The Software Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing web-based software services for the airline handling complex issues and problems including referred issues and problems from colleagues depending on their level of expertise. They should have a strong technical background in software engineering. They should have strong interpersonal skills in order to collaborate with team members. In addition they should also have a continuous desire to learn new things.

Here’s what you’ll do

  • Back End Focus: Write code for a set of Ruby on Rails services using the Ruby programming language.
  • Front End Focus: Write code for a set of Angular web applications services using the TypeScript programming language.
  • Collaborate with a team using agile methodologies including sprint planning daily stand-ups sprint review and sprint retro.
  • Contribute to the health of our code base by writing clean maintainable code unit tests and documentation.
  • Monitor system performance address issues fix bugs and provide support for the software your team creates.
  • Take ownership over the software your team creates by proactively suggesting improvements to the software and our processes.
  • Become familiar with the commercial aviation domain.
  • Achieve performance measures and adhere to established standards in conjunction with Breeze Aviation Group Values of Safety Kindness Integrity Ingenuity and Excellence

Here’s what you need to be successful

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience including Boot Camp completion
  • 2+ years relevant job experience
  • Must have authorization to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High performance orientation ability to work well under pressure prioritize projects meet deadlines and maintain flexibility
  • Strong attention to detail organization and time management skills
  • Self-starter must have a positive attitude and strong desire for success
  • Complete projects on time with minimal supervision ability to work varied hours when necessary to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate degree in Computer Science or related field or professional certifications
  • 4+ years software development experience

Back End Focus Skills/Talents:

  • Experience with the Ruby on Rails framework RSpec Relational databases In-memory data stores (Redis) AWS Simple Queue Service AWS Simple Notification Service GraphQL Git Version Control Agile.
  • Knowledge of software development fundamentals including design patterns and SOLID principles.

Front End Focus Skills/Talents:

  • Experience with Javascript/TypeScript HTML CSS Sass Angular 2+ Jasmine GraphQL Git Version Control Agile.
  • Knowledge of software development fundamentals including design patterns and SOLID principles.
  • Knowledge of fundamental UI development including componentization CSS Flexbox/CSS Grid and Sass.
