Human Resources Summer Student Opportunity

The Human Resource Department is currently looking for a summer student to join the Talent & HR Programs team. The incumbent will support the Human Resources Client Service Representative who is responsible for timely and accurate front line support and responses to the requests of employees and managers across the College encompassing all facets of Human Resources policy and process. The incumbent will assist with two major focused projects within the Vice President’s office. The position will also provide summer leave support to the Administrative Assistant to the Director Labour Relations and the Executive Assistant to the Vice President Human Resources. This is an exceptional opportunity to gain sought after industry experience applying best practices to a busy team that strives for excellence.

Requirements for this position include:

  • Currently studying at Algonquin College within the Business Administration Human Resources Psychology or Social Services or oth er related field;

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or greater;

  • Demonstrated self-starter and ability to adapt quickly to a demanding fast-paced environment;

  • Strong technical skills. Ability to reliably work from home leveraging college-supplied Zoom and Teams technology to facilitate video chat and meetings;

  • Superior communication skills (oral and written);

  • High commitment to service excellence and professional demeanor;

  • Ability to work within PIPEDA legislation and ethical guidelines for Human Resources professionals;

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word Excel Power Point);

  • Previous work experience in an office environment would be considered an asset;

  • Previous work experience in Client Service would be considered an asset;

  • All work performed by students becomes the property of Algonquin College.
