Job Function
Writes compelling copy for online and print ads College website pages social media accounts College Viewbooks blogs videos and other marketing materials. Works with marketing managers as well as independently initiates and maintains internal client contacts to see projects through from concept to completion.

Job Responsibilities
  • Write engaging copy for print and digital advertisements such as radio and videos email campaigns and direct mail pieces brochures flyers website landing pages digital banner ads billboard/bus boards and other marketing materials designed to increase enrollment and enhance awareness image and preference for the College.
  • Optimize web content for SEO.
  • Perform regular website content audits to ensure content is current and matches website style guide.
  • Develop social media content manage scheduling of posts identify and implement ways to increase student and departmental participation. Monitor social media comments and inboxes and respond or take action as necessary. Keep abreast of emerging trends.
  • Conduct interviews with students staff alumni and other participants. Maintain database of testimonials for use in all media.
  • Proofread materials developed by College departments using A.P. Stylebook and College Editorial Style Guide. Edit and improve content as needed.
  • Play a key role on the Marketing Team (Marketing Information Center Web and Graphics) in the conceptualization development preparation and coordination of marketing materials.
  • Manage monthly promotional campaigns for the Macomb University Center.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION

RECEIVED: General direction and supervision from the Director of Marketing. May also receive assignments and direction from the Managers of Marketing Graphics and Information Center.

GIVEN
: None. The position however requires close collaboration with a team of Graphic Artists and Videographers/Editors to inspire and achieve the highest degree of creative quality and effective communication in every assigned project.

Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Advertising Journalism Communications Marketing or related area preferred.

Preliminary Qualifications
Minimum two years of copywriting and proofreading experience preferably in an advertising agency or similar environment requiring multitasking and reliable just-in-time completion of all deliverables.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Must have
excellent written and verbal communication skills and thorough understanding of marketing communications principles. Proven experience writing copy and completing assignments under deadlines. Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects. Thorough knowledge of creating Web content including SEO and design strategy. Possess strong computer skills particularly in MS Office Suite and ability to conduct high-speed and resourceful Web research. Maintain up-to-date following of and experience with social media (Facebook Twitter YouTube etc.) as well as a passion for popular culture (targeted audience is typically 18-34). Ability and desire to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
