The Department of Pathology is seeking an experienced individual to perform coding and billing related functions. This will require analysis evaluation and an in-depth understanding of medical terminology. Must be able to adapt procedures processes and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position. Duties and tasks involve variety and complexity. May serve as a resource to others in the resolution of problems and issues. Works under general supervision.

Daily input of hospital charges for surgical cases. Validation of CPT codes and assign proper ICD-10 diagnosis coding of pathology charges. Register patients to enable the billing to be completed for M-lab Clients and outside consults. Accurately assigning proper insurances used through our current billing/registration system. Respond effectively and timely to both external and internal customers regarding e-mails and phone calls. Requires professional written responses problem-solving skills and good communication skills. May be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those stated in this description as needed.
In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.
High School diploma and 5 years of experience working with coding billing and patient registration. Knowledge of medical terminology ICD-10 CPT coding and EMR. Must be able to multi-task and be detailed oriented. Must be able to communicate effectively with others in a friendly and helpful manner.
CPC or RHIT Certification
Previous experience in Pathology coding.
Michart – Epic knowledge
Familiarity with computers and Excel is helpful.
This position is remote work. The employee is responsible for providing the necessary network access and facilities for offsite work.
