Recurve is looking for a Market Development Manager to focus on growing the business by providing industry insight to challenge our customers’ perspectives on how to solve their problems, developing and driving opportunities to close, and applying diligence throughout the sales process. This role will lead or support various initiatives based on the needs of the Sales and Business Development team. This is a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary role, and the ideal candidate will be able to effectively communicate with and learn from team members from across the whole organization. This role will report to the Market Development Director, West. $110,000 salary + $40,000 commission.

In your day-to-day you’ll be: 

  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities, “hunting”, with new banner utility customers and partners
  • Expanding revenue at current utility accounts against an annual SaaS and consulting services sales quota and continually qualifying new sales opportunities
  • Engaging with our channel partners to develop strategic partnerships that you leverage for new and innovative sales opportunities
  • Collaborating with DER providers and other actors in the energy and demand-side management industries
  • Developing consultative relationships with managers, directors, and executive-level electric & gas utility leaders
  • Leading account teams and working with Recurve leadership to follow up on potential expansion opportunities and maintain client health
  • Quickly developing the ability to self-sufficiently tell the story of Recurve’s value-based and innovative approach to the energy industry
  • Developing the response and support solution development with respect to RFIs, RFPs, etc. as necessary
  • Creating, communicating, maintaining, and executing cross-functional account plans
  • Working closely with the Solutions team to identify opportunities for further growth and expand within existing accounts
  • Embodying Recurve’s Core Values and positively impacting and maintaining company culture

 

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Credible expertise in energy markets and utilities, preferably in the area of demand-side management, distributed energy resources, and/or digitalization
  • 4+ years of professional experience
  • A strong understanding of the industry including the Texas and Southwest energy landscape in particular, with a focus on electric and gas utilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
  • Very strong presentation skills and proficiency in communication with large, varied audiences
  • An assertive approach to challenging customers’ status quo and approaching new potential customers 
  • An inquisitive mindset focused on identifying customer needs, key stakeholders, and identifying potential roadblocks early
  • Technical curiosity that will allow you to thrive in a cross-functional role and serve as a thought leader and early solutions consultant to clients
  • Experience with CRMs, Powerpoint, and Excel
  • “Startup DNA” and enjoys working in fast-paced environments, jumping in wherever is needed, and helping get things over that finish line

The ideal candidate will also have: 

  • A Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
  • 6+ years of professional experience
  • A background or familiarity with energy regulatory environments in the United States
