The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) under the authority of the Emergency Management Act leads the coordination and co-operation of all organizations involved in emergencies and disasters. This includes emergency and disaster prevention preparedness response and recovery.

Our agency also works to ensure vital public services such as government services and first responders are available during a crisis.

Role

The Government of Alberta Municipal Affairs Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is currently looking for a Vehicle and Facilities Coordinator to work in their busy division. If you are looking for a challenging yet exciting opportunity look no further and apply now!

Reporting to Manager Administration the Vehicles and Facilities Coordinator is responsible for AEMA fleet management and maintenance. In addition the Coordinator is responsible for the readiness support and maintenance of AEMA facilities.

This position ensures that new/replacement vehicles are identified proactively plans for end-of-life regular (routine service) and specialized (winter ties equipment such as lights/sirens and radio) vehicle maintenance as well as maintenance of appropriate usage information for planning and decision making. This position is also responsible for ensuring that the AEMA facilities are fully functional in terms of day to day operations.

The main responsibilities for the Vehicle and Facilities Coordinator include but are not limited to:

  • Address issues regarding AEMA facilities

o Coordinate maintenance repairs installations or modifications of facility components security systems electrical and mechanical systems

o Ensure contractual obligations of property management company vendors and contractors are met

o Minor maintenance repair work and troubleshooting when possible

  • Address issues regarding AEMA vehicles

o Coordinate the acquisition and replacement of fleet vehicles by tracking mileage reviewing maintenance logs and consulting with drivers and other stakeholders

o Manages AEMA vehicle database

o Coordinate maintenance repairs recalls installations or modifications of AEMA fleet vehicles and vehicle equipment

  • This position will likely be required to work in the Provincial Operations Centre (POC) or on a field assignment as needed during emergencies in order to coordinate provincial response efforts

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma supplemented with at least 2 years of fleet management and/or facilities management experience

o Preference will be given to candidates with a mechanical aptitude

  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License

o Ability to operate large pick-up trucks and mobile emergency support apparatus (motorhome) considered a strong asset

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds or 34 kilograms

Desired:

  • Working knowledge of vehicle hardware mechanical problems and maintenance
  • Awareness of facility maintenance/hardware such ass HVAC power mechanical rooms utilities
  • Professional Driver Improvement Course (PDIC) certification
  • Awareness of government policies and procedures as well as approval processes
  • Superior communication skills written and verbal
  • Proficient MS Office experience

Salary

$1708.35 to $2087.32 bi-weekly. ($44587.00 – $54479.00 annually)

This role may require travel across Edmonton for different facilities.
