Duties

  • Analyze plan and evaluate directorate functions to determine validity propriety accuracy and adequacy of work processes.
  • Apply knowledge of automated systems and regulatory/statutory requirements to identify problems.
  • Examine wide variety of documents records and related reports and processes to ensure accordance with Government Accountability Office (GAO) procedures and regulations.
  • Provide financial management technical advice and assistance to functional directorates in identifying problem areas.
  • Interpret applicable guidelines and regulations to assist in implementation of directed internal procedural changes to accomplish financial management objectives.
  • Perform analysis and make recommendations for corrective or enhancement actions to ensure the adequacy of the internal control operations.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade
GS-09 in the federal service which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position is required.

Specialized experience is defined as applying knowledge of financial management laws policies and regulations to assist with financial management and operational reviews examining work processes records structures and systems; identifying areas for improvement and advising on recommendations or corrective actions; and providing finance management support to leadership to help them carry out financial missions.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual community student social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies knowledge and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.

Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR GS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge skills and abilities necessary to do the work. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
