Job Title: System Administrator Location: 145 Lt George W Lee Avenue Memphis TN 38103 Job Duties: To provide technical support operating system support and services for the enterprise class systems in the FTN regions. Resolve server software hardware and communications problems responding to and assisting business community users and other information systems and technology departments with the isolation and resolution of these problems. Reviews analyzes develops installs and modifies computer operating systems to ensure a highly available stable and redundant enterprise system environment. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with operating systems and all connectivity between those systems. Detects diagnoses repairs and reports related problems. Demonstrates skills in a variety of the field’s concepts practices and procedures. Relies on personal experience and the experiences of senior operating systems personnel to plan and accomplish goals. Gathers user requirements to refine business processes and develops detail design proposals which include estimated time required to code test and implement solutions of low-to-medium complexity. Co-develops and/or modifies system software and system specifications to comply with business requirements. Keeps documentation current. Collaborates on projects with other information systems and technology departments. Assists programmers as needed. Complies with all IS&T policies and procedures including the SOX-mandated change-management procedure


Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Computer Science MIS or related discipline is required plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or 3 years of experience in operating systems administration & technical support. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent * in computer science MIS or related discipline is required plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or 5 years of experience in operating systems administration & technical support.in lieu of a Master’s degree plus 3 years of experience. Must have 3 years’ of experience with the following: Advanced ability working with very complex heterogeneous enterprise class systems including Installation configuration and problem diagnosis and resolution; Experience with large multiple CPU systems and enterprise class storage systems clustering fault tolerance high availability and disaster recovery; Strong knowledge & skills with ethernet and fibre networks in a heterogeneous LAN and WAN environment. Candidates must be able to work in a team environment and must possess good written and oral communications skills for documentation and required interaction with management other info systems personnel vendors the business community FTN corporate and FedEx corporate. Candidates must also have advanced problem-solving multi-tasking customer Service organizational and project management skills. Operating system administration focus area – specific skills will include: experience with IBM Z series mainframes z/OS operating system IBM storage arrays high availability software (pprc) datacom. May telecommute from home from any location in the U.S.
