The HR Transformation Team is all about bringing a new approach to the way Human Resources engages with our workers. Working closely with our internal and external product partners our team will support Best Buy’s HR Transformation to become the best place to work by 2025.

As an
Absence Engineer you will be working with the latest technologies and platforms within the People Technology area. You can quickly solve problems and leverage your skills and resources to resolve issues quickly. You will be looked at as an expert in your domain.

You must be able to take high level concepts from an idea to an actionable plan while weighing trade-offs with work in flight. Leveraging best practices and working with team members you will work on initiatives and upcoming projects to enhance the absence and leave process.

You will be working in an agile team developing solutions to solve problems and streamline processes.

Role Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Active participant in planning activities estimating work efforts and analyzing problems.
  • Develop custom reports or business processes based on operational requirements.
  • Develop and improve the Absence module to drive business strategies across the organization.
  • Build or maintain functional configuration including custom validations condition rules and calculated fields.
  • Analyze in-flight work for issues and fixes processes in place for migrating configurations across environments.
  • Effectively partner with teams such as HR and Payroll to provide support for requests such as enhancements defects and new functionality.
  • Collaborate with the Workday Community to resolve issues found within Absence domain.
  • Consistently helps teammates and others to improve and become more proficient over time.
  • Maintain up-to-date process documentation
  • Demonstrates creativity and takes initiative in solving complex problems and continuously learning.
  • Requires minimal direction and/or oversight.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT Computer Science Engineering or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience with HR technology platforms such as Workday Peoplesoft Oracle HR or relevant product.
  • 2 or more years of experience in technology delivery in one or more areas: design development testing project management release management configuration management.
  • 1 or more years of experience with absence and time off plans and policies.
  • 1 or more years in reporting tools and EIBs/Integrations

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Workday Absence and Leave.
  • 3 or more years of relevant professional experience in Payroll Compensation Benefits or Absence.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT Computer Science Engineering or related field.
  • Relevant engineering experience such as software development; critical reasoning skills; ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders; experience delivering quality engineering outcomes.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills especially when working with a distributed team.
