This position is may be performed in Saanichton OR Victoria.
This position has on-site requirements however we offer flexible work arrangements including the opportunity to volunteer to telework part-time (with conditions) as set out in applicable employer policies.

Emergency Management British Columbia (EMBC) is the lead coordinating agency in the provincial government for all emergency management activities. As such EMBC’s mission is to be responsible to British Columbians for leading the management of provincial level emergencies and disasters and supporting other authorities within their areas of jurisdiction. EMBC works directly with First Nations local governments provincial ministries and agencies federal departments other jurisdictions industry and volunteers in hazard mitigation preparedness response and recovery.
This position provides coordination oversight and reporting of key recovery operations in disaster zones throughout the Province of British Columbia. Reporting to Manager Community Recovery this position works closely with a broad array of organizations both internal and external to government to support community recovery. The Coordinator may be assigned to headquarters or to a specific event or location and is critical in ensuring teams are supported and information is flowing in a timely and effective manner.

In order to be considered for this position your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
- Degree in emergency management business administration public administration natural resources or related field and one year related experience in emergency management or response OR;
- Diploma in emergency management business administration public administration natural resources or related field and three years related experience in emergency management or response OR;
- An equivalent combination of experience (including lived experience in disaster recovery) and education may be considered
- Experience handling multiple priorities concurrently in a fast-paced environment
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience in project management
Candidates must be willing and able to:
- Travel occasionally
- Work flexible hours and be available 24/7 during emergency events
