Our team Data Center Operations Strategic Engineering (DCOSE) provides infrastructure escalations support worldwide with focus on continuous improvement to provide the best experience for our customers. The successful candidate would have demonstrated results through strategic leadership coupled with strong technical operational planning and execution skills in order to lead a high-performing global team of support engineers with deep technical expertise supporting a 24×7 operational environment.

Key job responsibilities

Key responsibilities of a DCOSE Support Engineering Manager will include but not limited to:

  • Identify and drive operational improvements within the team and across other teams through succinct verbal and written communication concerning systemic issues and solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and service teams to establish and streamline operational metrics and create operating models through best practices.
  • Manage and coach a team of local and/or remotely located Support Engineers tasked with building solutions and/or solving complex/at scale infrastructure problems.
  • Track delegate and monitor team work requests and monitor for relevant trends needing actions
  • Establish and track individual and team SMART goals and KPIs
  • Conduct career conversations with employees
  • Manage/update team on-call schedule as necessary
  • Participate in strategic initiatives

  • Experience with interviewing hiring and developing new staff
  • Knowledge of Linux or Unix systems administration
  • Hardware architectures knowledge and troubleshooting experience
  • Familiarity with Incident Management concepts and implementation
  • Familiarity with Problem Management concepts and implementation
  • Data-driven and strategic problem solving
  • Excellent writing skills (1-pagers concept paper design documentetc)
  • Proven track record in delivering medium-large sized projects
  • Experience working with global technical teams
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
